Weaving in ends while knitting tutorial

March 8, 2018

Raise your hand if you hate weaving in ends! (I’m raising my hand very high here.) My always excellent test knitters recently shared with me a technique that is a game changer while knitting fair isle, stripes or other multi color knitting projects. I’m almost… [read more]

  • My test knitter pickupsticks66 made this is sweet Rice Bowl Hat for her new grandson. How cute is that 😍💚⠀

  • This is quickly growing. I finished the big fair isle section and realized that I’m way past half point. It’s exciting! I think it will become my new go to scarf!⠀

  • A huge thank you to everyone who showed interest in my cardigan pattern and the little story around it! It always makes me so happy to get a positive response about my work 💓⠀
⠀
My life is crazy and I'm lacking time for everything, including my social life and interacting on social medias. But my designing activities are so dear to me that I don't want to sacrifice any of it. My mom life gets 95% of my time and energy, but that 5% of creative me-time is saving my sanity. ⠀
⠀
Today my mom came by and she's currently playing with Miss É. They are "cleaning" the playroom (actually my mom is cleaning while my toddler is a hurricane 👧🌪️💗). I'm enjoying a few minutes of "quiet" time, so I'm drinking tea and swatching for a new idea that has been disturbing my sleep lately. It's adding up to the reasons why I'm not sleeping, but I'm not complaining since all the reasons are sweet, like my daughter wanting to cuddle in the middle of the night, or my tiny son doing a party in my belly 💙⠀
⠀
I'm not sure how to end this long post as mom&miss are calling me back, but thank you for following me in my knitting adventures and for showing interest and love. Be sure that each likes, comments and sales are giving me more reasons to keep on 💗⠀

  • I thought I would share the story behind this cardigan as it is quite special to me 💙⠀
⠀
I started knitting the first prototype over 3 years ago, just before becoming pregnant with Miss É, when I was spending most of my afternoons knitting at the dog park. Some day, a dog stole the WIP and started running around the park with my precious work in his mouth. Three dog owners also ran behind the dog for long, long minutes until we finally caught him, and by some miracle, only a few stitches had dropped from the needles and there was not a single hole (but there was definitely some drooling!)⠀
⠀
Then, after 3 years of fertility issues, I became pregnant naturally. It took me quite a while to finish the first prototype as I was in a whirlwind of emotions and baby thoughts, so I rewrote most of the pattern before knitting the second one. I started knitting the second prototype just before becoming pregnant again... And to top it all, one of my test knitters also became pregnant while knitting it! So I decided to embrace this pregnancy theme and to model it myself, with my 25 weeks pregnant belly. ⠀
⠀
I’m not superstitious but I like to think that this cardigan is full of luck, and that it will grant a wish to the knitter. To the very least, I’m pretty sure you will end up with a new garment that you’ll love! ✨⠀

As soon as you are finished knitting, Dog Park Cardigan will become your new best friend. It’s the perfect garment to wear during casual, cozy days at home because of its extreme comfort, and it’s also utterly elegant for more sophisticated occasions. It features lovely stylish details such as a reversible shawl collar made of cables that can be worn flat or folded, long ribbing sections at the wrists and bottom, and garter stitch accents. It’s worked top-down, seamlessly, starting with the top of the collar, down to the bottom ribbing. The cable border is worked at the same time as the body, and the sleeves are worked right after.⠀

  • I've been swatching a lot and questioning myself about what I want to do for my next pattern. I wanted to use a mosaic stitch pattern because I love this technique, but I'm not fond of the result. Do you like mosaic knitting?⠀
