I’m excited to talk to you about the latest yarn created by Yarn Citizen: Trinity Cashmere. This yarn, made of baby alpaca, silk, and cashmere, is a fabulous alternative to mohair for creating a halo effect in your knits while adding a touch of softness. I had the chance to test it, and I’m charmed! Here are all my comments.
Harmony Cashmere from Yarn Citizen is a fingering weight yarn that knits like mohair, either on its own or held together with another yarn. It consists of 49% super baby alpaca, 39% mulberry silk, and 12% cashmere. Its composition makes it a perfect yarn for sensitive skin and adds a lot of softness to knits.

I had the opportunity to be one of the first to try this yarn, and I was amazed: as someone who has a love-hate relationship with mohair, I found here an alternative that stole my heart. It has the advantages of mohair: its luxurious appearance, the softness and warmth it adds to knits, and of course, the lovely halo we all adore. But it doesn’t have its major drawback, that of being itchy… If you don’t like mohair for this reason, I highly recommend trying Trinity Cashmere. Indeed, it’s no coincidence that this yarn is so soft. I was actually told that Trinity Cashmere was specifically developed to offer a non-itchy alternative to mohair! Well, it’s a success!
Of course, it’s not an exact copy of typical mohair yarns. Its appearance is less silky and less hairy. However, it is more substantial, more sticky, and it will thicken your knits more than a mohair yarn. It has the same lightness as mohair and its halo, though slightly different, is also very pretty.

I made swatches of the yarn alone, and of its combination with Yarn Citizen Harmony Fingering. I also knitted a top with both yarns and I love the result. I also want to knit a future project with two strands of Trinity Cashmere, it seems substantial enough to give a very beautiful result.
As described in my review of Harmony Fingering, I find it a bit too itchy to be worn close to the body. But in combination with Trinity Cashmere, the added softness gives me hope for the future of my new t-shirt! Moreover, it allowed me to knit it rather loosely because Trinity fills a lot of space while giving an unparalleled lightness to the final result.
And if my enthusiasm for the softness of this yarn hasn’t convinced you, know that Yarn Citizen is a company with ethical values that promotes sustainability by recycling fibers that would otherwise be discarded, while offering their yarns at affordable prices.
