Construction
Perle is worked sideways, beginning with just a few stitches. It grows along one side through a series of increases until the desired width is reached. The center section is then worked without shaping for as long as desired, followed by decreases along the opposite side to gradually bring the shawl back down.

Adaptable pattern
Perle is completely adaptable and can be worked with any yarn, to any dimensions. Simply repeat the increase section as many times as needed to reach your preferred width, then repeat the center section until the piece reaches your desired length before beginning to decrease.

Dimensions
The sample shown measures 60″ (152 cm) wide along the top edge and 15″ (38 cm) deep at its widest point.

Yarn and yardage
Approximately 200 to 800 yards (180 to 730 m) of fingering- to worsted-weight yarn, depending on the desired size, yarn, and drape.
The sample shown was made using 650 yards (600 m) of Pascuali Merino Baby (colorway Rose Quartz 311) held together with 650 yards (600 m) of Pascuali Mohair Bliss (colorway Beige 825).

Gauge
Sample shown has a gauge of 21 sts x 30 rows = 4″ (10 cm) in lace pattern, after blocking.
Gauge is not crucial and may vary depending on your yarn and desired fabric. Final dimensions will vary according to your gauge.

Difficulty
Intermediate lace knitting: simple construction with basic lace stitches worked on the right side only. The pattern uses bobbles that can be omitted.
