Periwinkles are charming little flowers that spread rapidly and that are often used as groundcover in gardens. They inspired me to design this shawl using a special stitch that creates little flowers, covering most of the shawl. On the border, a more open, leafy pattern, ends this piece in a delicate way.

Construction
This shawl is worked sideways, with flowers aligned at regular intervals on most of the shawl, transitioning to a leafy pattern that creates an openwork border. A few rows of ribbing and a picot binding end the shawl. This project is adaptable in size: you can knit the flower section and the border longer or shorter to create a perfectly sized shawl for your preference (though your yardage will vary).
